Introduction

Being the home of the MLS team, Atlanta United FC, Atlanta is known for having an active fan base; they have set several league records for highest single-match and average attendance. These records directly reflect the large numbers in adult and youth soccer teams and casual players. We’ve searched through local pickup soccer groups, adult clubs and facilities to find out where the popular spots that people go to play soccer in Atlanta and picked out some of the notable locations.

01. Monarch Village Park

This field is on the south side of Atlanta. One of the popular pickup groups in the area hosts their games on weekday evenings (the group name on ENDALGO is “Greater Atlanta Pickup Soccer” click here or the group name to join their group and RSVP for their games). Look for Crescent Park field inside the neighborhood; the field should be near the tennis courts.

02. Brook Run Park

This park is actually the biggest park in Atlanta and its surrounding regions. Many 7v7 or 8v8 type small-sided games are open during the weekday evenings at this park (some pickup groups host games here almost every weekday from 6 pm to 8 pm). The park itself is huge and has a great grass field for friendly games. The park hours are from 7:00 am to 9:00 pm everyday.

03. Piedmont Park

Piedmont Park is an absolute gem for soccer players in Atlanta. The location is already right at the middle of Midtown Atlanta and has 2 soccer fields that is called the Active Oval Loop within the Piedmont Park -- the oval is divided into 4 areas and two are mostly dedicated for soccer. Two of active ENDALGO groups play pickup on both weekdays and weekends.

04. Hammond Park

Hammond Park has an awesome turf field with a city view. It only has one field available, but it does host some of the most popular adult rec soccer leagues. If you’re looking for a 7v7 adult league, this field can be a great place to look for a team to join. The hours aren’t specified anywhere, but we’ve seen games scheduled for as early as 8:00 am and as late as 7:00 pm.

05. Arizona Ave Soccer Fields

Arizona Ave Soccer Fields is the home field of Inter Atlanta FC (youth recreational soccer club that is dedicated to promote the soccer culture in Atlanta). Although the fields are mostly for the youth activities, it is open for events and organizations. As it is private property for a youth club, the fields are very well maintained and the location is also close to Downtown Atlanta. Weekday youth events seem to end before 5:00 pm, so check for availability.
